Smart Assessor Background    

Smart Assessor is a dynamic, entrepreneurial successful technology company.   

Only 4 years old the company has achieved quickly become the market leader in providing innovative technology for colleges and training providers to use with their apprentices, enabling apprentices to throw away paper portfolios and replace them an app that allows them to showcase their skills with videos and photos.

Tutors and assessors can then review the work and provide instant feedback, college managers and employers can see at a glance how well their apprentices are progressing through their qualification.   Smart Assessor has grown rapidly and has lots of exciting new products in their development roadmap. 

To help us support our existing customers we need to provide them with their own dedicated account managers so that they have one point of contact for all their needs.    

Based in the countryside between Rugby and Coventry, we have a lovely working environment with free onsite parking, a young and dynamic workforce with a great work hard but friendly culture.  

We are now seeking hard working, high flying, account managers to help with the growing number of customers that have chosen to partner with Smart Assessor.

The role will involve travelling across the UK at least 2 days a week to meet with clients so only apply if you are willing to drive, work 2-3 long days and have your own car.  Mileage will be paid at .45 per mile for all travel.

Purpose

The Client Account Manager will focus on listening to, and meeting the needs of our clients. Backed up by an outstanding technical support and training team you will be their single point of contact for all of their needs, developing a relationship based on mutual trust and respect. You will be responsible for identifying any opportunities to offer additional licenses, products and services to your clients as well as protecting existing renewals,

Key responsibilities

  • Working with existing customers to meet their expectations 
  • Liaising with the Smart Assessor help desk to resolve any technical issues         
  • Encourage good practice use of the e-portfolio through our champion programme        
  • Achieve renewal revenue from existing clients through great customer service      
  • Upsell additional licenses and features to existing customers
  • Develop individual customer growth strategies 
  • Complete customer actions that could affect satisfaction and revenue      
  • Manage client review meetings to keep clients on track       
  • Book Senior Leadership meetings for the Client Director
  • Maintain a good rapport with key clients to protect revenue renewals and identify upsell opportunities    

Achievement of agreed targets         

  • Take ownership of client renewal revenue targets        
  • Take ownership of client growth strategy

Growth of business in key product area         

  • Responsible for identifying new business opportunities within your client base        
  • Create opportunities at SMT level for the Client Director

Team work 

  • Demonstrates understanding of team roles and commitment to team decisions 
  • Contributes fully as a team member, resolves conflict, builds appropriate relationships and networks 
  • Share client experiences, successes and challenges within the team

Reporting

  • Good analytical and written communication skills are required to produce client growth strategies, client visit reports, record client actions in the CRM  

Personal Development

  •  Understands own development needs and discusses with Manager.
  • Takes time to understand changes in the market and communicates to Managers/colleagues as appropriate

  • Has a strong understanding of the business development process, has a record of having applied those principles and achieved consistent success 
  • Is target driven to meet and exceed targets 
  • Is able to understand customer needs and issues and articulate how Smart Assessor can offer a solution from their product and service portfolio

  • Thinks analytically and logically 
  • Is focused on client service and identifying new business opportunities 
  • Understands the demands of the sector and its dynamics, and is able to establish clear priorities, strategies, objectives and milestones to ensure targets are met  
  • Avoids blame culture but establishes causes and solutions

Strategy, Metrics and Financial Awareness  

  • Understands the dynamics and imperatives of the sector they are working in  
  • Understands the company strategy and organises their priorities accordingly

Administration

  • Has good numeracy skills, being able to understand and create sales plans, work within CRM systems and sales reports and forecasts

Market Knowledge

  • Understands the FE and apprenticeship based market. Is able to understand College/ FE structures, challenges and opportunities  
  • Can articulate the product features and competitive positioning of Smart Assessor and associated product/service wrap around 
  • Keeps up to date with Government and other sector information on curriculum, teaching and learning and structural trends  

Qualifications  

  • At least 5 GCSE’s or equivalent required including Maths and English  
  • IT experience and computer skills including familiarity with Word and Excel 
  • Previous experience of business development that can be demonstrated with successes 
  • Previous knowledge of FE and education - preferred 
  • Full/clean Driving Licence and car owner
