The National Minimum Wage rises from October 1st 2016

Thursday October 6, 2016 at 3:34pm

The National Minimum Wage has risen as of October 1st 2016.

For those apprentices that are in their first year of employment before their 19th birthday, they will be paid £3.40. Those aged 19+, in their second year receive a payment in line with the National Minimum Wage rates of their age group. This means those aged 19 or 20 are paid £5.55 and those 21-24 are paid £6.95.

Apprenticeships are guaranteed the National Minimum and the British Retail Consortium has advised that regardless of the employer’s business size, it is their obligation as an employer that all staff earning the national minimum are paid correctly, now that the amount has increased.
