After months of planning, our Leadership Trailblazer Ready Conference 2017 finally took place on Thursday 11th May at the Vox Centre, Birmingham. With over 200 senior leaders from colleges and training providers across the UK in attendance.
The day gave delegates a chance to hear about how Smart Assessor has evolved from 1 product to a suite of 5 technologies, under the umbrella name, Smart Apprentices and how these innovative technologies can help senior leaders to harvest the opportunities the new employer levy presents.
You can see highlights from the day here
The day featured guest speaker Nick Linford, who discussed FAS – the funding apprenticeship system, a free tool to calculate the money those paying the levy have. Danny Taylor, our Business Development Director addressed the conference delegates regarding another new product, Smart EPA for end point assessment.
“Excellent venue, good access and facilities, good opportunity to network. Great to have Nick Linford as speaker. Good day, well organised - very well organised. Would attend again.” – Joan Coe, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.
As part of our Client Showcase, 5 lucky finalists were shortlisted for our Smart Leader Award. To enter, clients had to explain in no more than 250 words, how using Smart Assessor has made their organisation more innovative. We would like to say congratulations to our winner, Derwentside College, who took home the award on the day. A special well done also goes to our 4 other shortlisted finalists; Aspiration Training, Calex UK, City College Coventry and Leicester College.
“I was delighted to accept the Smart Leader award on behalf of Derwentside College. We have made outstanding progress within the use of technology and innovation and receiving recognition for this shows that we are on the right track. Smart Assessor have helped to play a big part in our success. Thank you for selecting us as winners!” – Louis Duncan, Derwentside College.
Delegates took part in a competition to win an apple watch. To enter everyone had to complete a Smart Apprentices Journey by obtaining a sticker from each of the stands following a learner journey starting at FAS and ending at SEPA, with a bonus sticker for getting a free, personally signed copy of Fiona, our CEO’s book – Survival of the Smartest. Congratulations to Colin Morfitt from East Riding College on winning the competition!
The Smart Apprentices journey was a great opportunity for the team to discuss with delegates who visited each stand our new products; FAS, SmartVLE, SEPA and NotaCV as well as answer any burning questions around Smart Assessor. We had some great feedback from delegates about our products, with a large interest in SmartVLE – our functional skills software for English and Maths. We wanted to demonstrate how each technology in our suite plays an important part in your apprenticeship journey from start to finish.
“Useful day to learn about the new products in the smart world.” – Richard Gibbons, Dudley College.
CEO, Fiona Hudson-Kelly opened and closed the event, resonating with the audience some final words of advice and inspiration. We would like to extend a thank you to all those that attended our event, we hope you had a great day and learnt something new. It was great to see so many customers and potential clients in one room, rather than across the UK, providing an excellent opportunity to network for delegates with other likeminded leaders from similar organisations.
“The opportunity to network with colleagues from other colleges has been invaluable. It was great to put a face to Adam behind the support tickets! I will definitely take up the opportunity to keep in touch with Louise.” – Venita Porter, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College & South Leicestershire College.
